Standard Bank has confirmed that it is suffering from a major problem which prevents customers from using their cards at ATMs and points of sale.
This follows a massive spike in reports of problems from Standard Bank on Down Detector from around 9am.
“We are sorry that you are experiencing intermittent difficulties using your card at point of sale (POS) and ATMs,” Standard Bank said in a statement. Tweeter.
The bank has since confirmed that it is in the process of fixing the problem.
“We are still busy resolving the issue of customers being unable to use their cards at point of sale (POS) and ATMs,” Standard Bank said.
“All digital platforms are available. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
The bank said customers can get cash by redeeming an instant voucher at Spar, Pick n Pay, Game, Makro, Builders and PEP stores. They can also pay with EasyScan at a Pick n Pay store.
The problem follows another major breakdown two weeks ago when most banking services were halted, including its banking app, ATMs and credit card services.
