Welcome to At Home with T&C, a monthly roundup of new design and home decor articles our style and interiors writer is excited to share (and buy!) now.
January 2022, a period which, in my opinion, was best used for post-holiday cocooning. It’s also a month of early nights and late mornings, which means any investment you make in your bedroom will pay for itself immediately. Many of us put time and effort into our rooms facing the public first, so the living room and kitchen end up looking much closer together than our private rooms. No more! Call it self-care or just use it as an excuse to blow up any gift cards or vacation bonuses that might be lying around. It will feel better than this annual Whole30, believe me.
Stonewashed linen sheets
A few years ago there was a trend where linen sheets were considered the ultimate in bedding. More sheets have appeared (see below) since, but there’s something so romantic about a crinkle linen sheet, don’t you think?
Large set of bed linen
I can’t express the Old World thrill I get from Rosita Studio’s delightfully colored embroidered sheets. Each set is hand embroidered in the UK to order.
Harlem Nightclub Candle
A sultry bedside candle illustrated with a map of Harlem’s old Renaissance speakeasy and nightclubs provides the prettiest glow.

Tala Knuckle table lamp
A simple and chic table lamp is all your bedside table needs for a warm glow.
John Mayer west exit
I wanted to hate this collab until I listened to John Mayer rave about doing his laundry for almost an hour. This man is really passionate about it. Oh, and like everything The Laundress offers, it smells great but isn’t so overwhelming you can’t wash your sheets with it (which you should do often).
Smolder Needlepoint Lips Throw Pillow
Maybe I (definitely) watch too many old movies, but smoking in bed will always feel glamorous. However, since I’m a non-smoker, I’d happily settle for Jonathan Adler’s Pop Art Pillow to achieve a similar sleazy effect.
I recently banned cell phones from the bedroom, which means I reintroduced the alarm clock. This one is loaded with useful features like a two-stage alarm clock and day of the week settings and guided meditations and breathing.
Deluxe Hem Sheet Set
These long-staple organic cotton sheets are in heavy rotation at my house. They have the perfect crisp finish and the oversized hemlines are so sophisticated.
For those whose cats sleep in their room with them, make sure they also have a stylish place to rest with their own cat sofa covered in Block Shop textiles.
Dusen Dusen River Quilt and Sham Set
Dusen Dusen make the happiest home textiles (don’t skip their towels, either!) and this wavy peach-colored bedspread couldn’t be more inviting.
Nelson Bed with Thin Edges, Rattan
I don’t know what childhood trauma I should blame for this, but elaborate bed frames always worry me about how much dust they attract (a chintz canopy? Chills). When designer George Nelson created this bed in 1954, the idea was to keep it as minimal as possible while still providing support. It’s a classic that can’t be bettered.
Striped Organic Cotton Bed Set
I have recommended Vitruvi Stone Diffusers before, and probably will again. The simple design is now available in new colorways (including this one, eucalyptus) to match your decor and will fill your room with the most soothing scents.
Ojai lounge chair
I recently heard of House of Leon and am totally obsessed with their laid back California vibes. It’s a small company founded by two brothers but they manage to keep the prices reasonable which means I can definitely dream of having this oversized chair in my bedroom as soon as possible.
